Happy New Year

Happy New Year from Astronaut Basketball. We had a great 2018 and look to make it an even better 2019!

Last week our Varsity team traveled to London, KY to participate in a three day tournament. This trip allowed our team to grow closer together as a Brotherhood and spend a lot of time together off the court.

While we performed great on the court, I am even more proud of how they performed off of the court. We had countless fans and coaches from other teams comment on how much they enjoyed watching our guys play; and how well behaved they are.

Additionally, our players had the opportunity to meet the first boys basketball coach in Astronaut Basketball history, Johnny Davenport.

Here are a few additional highlights from the trip:

1. On the court we finished 2-1 and player very very well as a team. Kario and Jace both received Player of the Game honors in our two victories, and Kario was selected to the All-Tournament team.

2. After our final game, we drove down to Knoxville, TN and received a unique tour of the University of Tennessee Basketball arena and facilities. They usually do not open up their doors like that but I am very good friends with one of their coaches. It was an awesome experience to share with these players to see how Division 1 athletes are treated.

3. After we left the University of Tennessee, we took a short trip to Iolani McKnight’s home. Mrs McKnight was a dean at Astronaut for many many years! They opened their doors to us and allowed us to lodge at their beautiful home Saturday evening.

It was a pleasure to have the opportunity to take this group of young men on such a unique trip out of state to play basketball. One that went so well, I cannot wait to do it again in future years.

We tip-off again January 10 @ West Shore!
